Abstract. Pleonasm has been defined as a hypernym (umbrella term) in Western linguistics, mainly an unnecessary language element, with expressions that can be translated 'linguistic redundancy and extension or linguistic redundancy'. It is used to describe any component, situation contains semantic functional repetition the discourse not necessary for its function element belonging field of linguistics. Such increase number elements does affect change intended meaning provide information was presented before. At same time, phenomenon question serves some literary, phraseological, pragmatic purposes, is, it create linguistic, poetic, literary effects. However, may have effects make difficult understand foreign language/second learning. In developing metalanguage awareness, essential present these learners foreign/second teaching process, intuiting direct teaching. important The study designed case study, which qualitative research design, data obtained were subjected content analysis descriptive analysis. problem examine whether Turkish identify examples through their productive skills, why uses occur, offer suggestions instructors at point awareness.
